The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained a deafening silence following the dramatic defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The unexpected move has shaken the PDP to its core, throwing key structures of the party—the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), and Board of Trustees (BoT)—into a state of uncertainty. The political landscape in Delta State witnessed a major upheaval on Wednesday as both Oborevwori and Okowa officially decamped to the ruling APC.

Speaking anonymously to Vanguard, a high-ranking PDP NWC member revealed that this defection might just be the beginning. The source disclosed that the party had been in advanced discussions with three PDP governors, warning that two more may likely cross over to the APC in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the defection drew enthusiastic praise from Festus Keyamo (SAN), Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development and a prominent Delta State native. Taking to (formerly Twitter), Keyamo celebrated the political shift, calling it a defining moment for the state.
