Politicians Funding Terror As Kidnappings Soar – Shinkafi Exposes Hidden Agendas

Former Zamfara State governorship candidate, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has accused top politicians of fueling banditry in Nigeria’s North-West, linking their actions to the region’s escalating insecurity. His allegations come amid growing concern over the numerous attacks and kidnappings plaguing the area.

In a statement released on Saturday, Shinkafi claimed that certain influential politicians are secretly backing the bandits, undermining efforts to restore peace. As the Executive Director of Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development (PAPSD), he endorsed the Defence Headquarters’ ongoing investigation into the funding of banditry, calling it essential for addressing the crisis.

Shinkafi condemned politicians who exploit the insecurity for personal gain, stressing the need for a thorough investigation into individuals politicizing banditry. He praised the military’s recent successes in neutralizing key bandit leaders, such as Kachalla Halilu Sububu, Jamilu Nazakiru, Sani Black, Danbaleri Mashekari, and Wala Baburki, attributing these victories to President Bola Tinubu’s directive.

He stated, “This is a welcome development and long overdue in the quest for sustainable peace, security, and development in the region.”

Shinkafi emphasized the urgent need for military intervention to stop the killings, kidnappings, destruction of property, and displacement caused by the bandits. He also called for those found guilty in the investigation to be prosecuted, regardless of their political status.

He further criticized politicians who manipulate insecurity as a campaign strategy against opponents and urged the Defence Headquarters to investigate those profiting from the security challenges. Shinkafi also defended Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, against blackmail accusations, highlighting his contributions to the President Tinubu administration.
