Abuja, Nigeria – In a recent address, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, has called on Nigerian youths to actively support and defend the policies and programs of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration. Speaking during a meeting with Dr. Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the APC, Adelabu underscored the critical role youths play in supporting governmental reforms aimed at improving the nation’s well-being.

Adelabu emphasized the necessity for party-aligned youths to advocate for and protect the government’s initiatives. “As youths of the party, you must rise to the occasion of defending the government. The party owns the government of the day,” he asserted. He believes that the ongoing reforms, while challenging, are essential for advancing Nigeria’s development and rectifying the issues caused by years of ineffective governance.

Addressing the complexities of Nigerian governance, Adelabu noted that the Constitution’s requirements, such as a bicameral legislature and a minister from each state and geopolitical zone, contribute to the high cost of administration. Despite these challenges, he praised President Tinubu’s dedication to youth development and the inclusion of young leaders in his cabinet.

Adelabu also highlighted significant achievements under the current administration, including the removal of petrol subsidies, which has led to increased allocations for state governments. Additionally, he pointed out the improvements in the power sector, with power generation rising from 4,000 megawatts to 5,155 megawatts.

Dr. Dayo Israel, the APC National Youth Leader, acknowledged the positive impact of these developments, particularly in electricity supply. He extended an invitation to Adelabu to speak at the upcoming Ministerial Town Hall meeting during the Progressives Young Leaders Summit.

This appeal for youth engagement reflects the administration’s focus on involving younger generations in shaping Nigeria’s future and driving necessary changes for the country’s growth.
