Presidency Slams Peter Obi Over “Opportunistic, Inconsistent Politician” Remark On ADC Exit

According to Ireporter Online, the Presidency has strongly criticized former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, describing him as an “opportunistic and inconsistent politician” following his recent remarks regarding the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, made the statement in a post on his account while reacting to Obi’s comments that he could exit the ADC if the party’s internal processes are compromised.

In the interview, Obi defended his political journey, insisting that his decisions have been guided by principle rather than personal interest. He maintained that his exit from the Labour Party was the result of what he described as internal sabotage.

“They set the house on fire and expected me to remain inside. When I found a way out, they criticised me for not staying to put out a fire they started,” Obi said.

Obi further emphasized that his focus remains on current political conduct rather than past affiliations, noting that accountability within party structures is more important than history.

“What matters is not who people were before, but who they are now. We are undergoing a process together, and if that process is compromised, I will not hesitate to speak out,” he added.

Reacting, Onanuga accused Obi of political inconsistency, alleging that his pattern of movement across parties reflects opportunism. He suggested that Obi may also exit the ADC just as he previously left the APGA, PDP, and Labour Party, stating that Nigerians should pay close attention to his political trajectory.
