Okeke emphasized that climate change presents a growing existential threat, especially in Nigeria, where deforestation and desertification are major contributors. He stressed the need for increased awareness and action, advocating for the planting of trees and the reduction of harmful activities like gas flaring and illegal crude oil refining.

To address climate change, he proposed the establishment of dedicated funds for the cause and the creation of climate change agencies in all 36 states of Nigeria. He also lauded the creation of the National Climate Change Agency by President Bola Tinubu but emphasized the importance of expanding such efforts.

Regarding Nigeria’s current challenges, Okeke stressed the importance of an agricultural revolution to combat hunger, calling for the revival of initiatives like “Operation Feed the Nation.” He also noted that President Tinubu’s policies, including the National Tax Bill and efforts to stabilize electricity and fuel prices, are beginning to improve the business climate and reduce foreign investor flight.
