Relief For Ibadan Drivers As Fuel Prices Drop, But Calls For Further Reduction Grow

Some filling stations in Ibadan are now selling petrol between N870 and N890 per litre, while others still sell as high as N930 to N950 per litre.

A commercial motorcyclist, Ismaili Olamilekan, noted that while the price drop has provided some relief, he hopes fuel prices will fall to N400–N500 per litre.

Taxi driver Waheed Ajasa confirmed that petrol now costs N865–N875 in some areas like Moniya, leading to slight improvements in business. However, he emphasized that transport fares have not yet decreased, as the reduction is not substantial enough.

Similarly, a commercial tricyclist, Abdulamin Mustapha, welcomed the price cut but urged the government to ensure a continuous decline in fuel prices to improve the economy.

On the other hand, another taxi driver, Otunba, described the current price as still too high, making it difficult for transporters to earn decent income. He stressed that transport fares cannot be reduced yet due to the high cost of petrol.

Many drivers agreed that further reductions are necessary for Nigerians to truly feel the impact of lower fuel prices.
