Revealed: How Yahaya Bello Paid $845,852 in Advance for His Children’s Education – US School

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello allegedly paid $1,606,763.68 in tuition fees for his children at the American International School, Abuja, including an advance payment of $845,852 for future enrollment. This revelation was made by an auditor from the school, Nicholas Ojehomon, who testified as a prosecution witness in Bello’s ongoing ₦80.2 billion fraud trial initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)……..READ MORE

During the hearing, financial documents detailing the transactions were presented, showing that payments were made in two installments, with part of the amount allocated for future tuition. The EFCC had previously alleged that Bello made a $760,000 prepayment before leaving office, which was later refunded following an investigation.

The court also heard testimony from a compliance officer at United Bank for Africa (UBA), who provided financial records indicating large withdrawals from the Kogi State Government House account, although Bello’s name was not explicitly linked to the transactions.

Despite the allegations, the defense pointed out that Bello’s name was absent from the provided financial records. The trial is set to continue on March 6.
