Rivers State Administrator Ibas Announces Plans For New Budget Following Supreme Court Ruling

Vice-Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has announced the commencement of preparations for a new state budget. This development follows the Supreme Court’s recent decision to invalidate the 2025 budget.

Ibas assured that the new budget process would be transparent and inclusive, with a focus on expediting its implementation to minimize delays in delivering essential services. He also highlighted the importance of legislative support in ensuring the successful execution of the budget.

Senator Barinada Mpigi, representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, led the 10-member delegation, which included other notable lawmakers like Senator Allwell Onyesoh and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda. Ibas emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state administration and the National Assembly to secure the necessary resources and legislative approval.

In addition to budgetary matters, Ibas addressed the security situation in Rivers State, particularly in light of the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.
