According to Ireporter Online, a recent statistical analysis of football’s most reliable penalty takers has placed Cristiano Ronaldo at the summit of the all-time rankings, highlighting his exceptional consistency from the spot across both club and international football.

The study, compiled by Planet Football, assessed conversion records throughout players’ careers and identified the most dependable finishers in penalty situations. Ronaldo leads the list comfortably, with over 180 successful penalties and still increasing his tally, further cementing his reputation as the most prolific penalty scorer in the history of the sport.

Former England striker Alan Shearer ranks tenth with 72 successful penalties and just 11 misses, a record that underlines his clinical edge during his playing days. Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero follows with 77 converted penalties, while Swedish icon Zlatan Ibrahimović sits eighth with 85.

Francesco Totti edges slightly ahead with 86, while Polish striker Robert Lewandowski occupies sixth place with 89 spot-kicks. Despite a memorable miss in a major final early in his career, Roberto Baggio still accumulated 101 successful penalties, preserving his place among Italy’s finest attackers.

England captain Harry Kane has already surpassed the 100-mark with 104 conversions and is widely expected to climb further up the rankings in the coming years. Jointly occupying second place are Lionel Messi and Ronald Koeman, each with 113 penalties scored. Messi, once criticised for early inconsistencies, has developed into a highly reliable penalty taker, while Koeman’s remarkable accuracy from set pieces, despite being a defender, sets him apart in the historical rankings.
