Security Forces Seize 53 Stolen Transformers En Route To Lagos In Kogi State
In a significant breakthrough, security operatives in Kogi State have intercepted a convoy transporting 53 electrical transformers intended for electrification projects across the state. The operation, carried out at Obajana, led to the apprehension of a criminal syndicate involved in the theft of these vital assets from the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) facility.
The transformers, en route to Lagos State, were confiscated along with the perpetrators, highlighting a major victory in the ongoing battle against organized crime.
With the contraband now in the custody of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo commended the unwavering vigilance and dedication of the security personnel involved. This interception underscores the state’s relentless pursuit of law enforcement and its commitment to safeguarding public assets.
In a statement relayed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo expressed satisfaction with the swift action taken by his administration, leading to the apprehension of the suspects. Furthermore, he emphasized that this successful operation is a testament to the efficacy of intensified efforts to combat criminal activities across Kogi State.
The governor revealed that valuable intelligence obtained from the arrested individuals facilitated additional arrests, including a fleeing accomplice apprehended in Ilorin, Kwara State, and an alleged accomplice in Lagos State. This coordinated effort demonstrates the state’s resolve to eradicate crime and uphold the safety and security of its citizens.
Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to eradicating criminality, affirming that such decisive actions will continue to be taken to preserve peace and prosperity in Kogi State.
