Security Forces Use Tear Gas to Disperse Pro-Fubara Protesters In Rivers (Video)

On Monday, security operatives, including the police, used tear gas to disperse a group of approximately 200 women who were protesting against the emergency rule imposed in Rivers State and demanding the reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

As the women marched through the streets, chanting solidarity songs and holding placards with messages such as “Ibas leave us alone” and “Our democracy is threatened,” tensions escalated when security forces attempted to halt their progress. Despite this, the demonstrators remained firm in their stance.

In response, the police deployed tear gas into the crowd, creating chaos as the women scattered in various directions. The use of tear gas left some women visibly distressed, with viral videos capturing their reactions as they cried out in pain from inhaling the substance.

However, even in the face of the dispersal tactics, the women remained resolute, with some sitting on the ground and continuing to chant, “No Sim, no Rivers State.
