as a senator, rather than his relationship with party chairman Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa, will define his ambitions for 2027.

“My constituents will assess my achievements over the four years—what I’ve delivered for them, their inclusion in national affairs, and their progress. They are not concerned about my relationship with the party chairman,” Sumaila said during an interview with Daily Trust on Monday.

Currently involved in a legal dispute with Dungurawa, Sumaila dismissed allegations of anti-party activities while acknowledging differences with the NNPP National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“We haven’t severed ties, but we do hold differing views on certain matters, which is natural in politics. I remain committed to the NNPP, and my issues with the chairman will be resolved in court,” he stated.

The crisis escalated following Sumaila’s call for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to prioritize the welfare of Kano residents over loyalty to Kwankwaso.

Dungurawa later accused Sumaila of fraud and working against the party’s interests.

Despite the challenges, Sumaila expressed faith in his constituents’ judgment, adding, “They can differentiate between good leadership and otherwise.”
