Senator Yau Not Involved! Nigerian Senate Debunks Explosive Viral Video Claim”

The Nigerian Senate has refuted claims that a man seen in a viral video kissing a woman inside an office is a serving senator.

Additionally, the Senate dismissed social media reports suggesting that the incident took place within its premises at the National Assembly.

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, issued the denial on Tuesday following the circulation of the controversial video online.

He clarified that the footage is not recent and the individual involved is not Senator Sahabi Alhaji Yau of Zamfara North, as speculated.

“That is not the image of any current member of the Nigerian Senate. The video has been circulating for four to five years. I had seen it long before joining the Senate—even during my time in the House of Representatives,” Adaramodu explained.

Highlighting discrepancies, he added: “The setting in that video is nothing like any office in the Senate. I invite anyone to inspect Senate offices—none match that design. I can open 10 offices for comparison; there’s no architectural similarity.”

He emphasized, “There’s no resemblance to any senator, nor does that space exist within our complex. It’s clear that the man in the video is not a senator, and the incident did not occur in the Senate.”

Adaramodu concluded in a phone conversation with Sahara Reporters: “That location is not part of the Senate, and the individual in question is not one of our senators.”
