According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has suggested that his tenure in office may not extend beyond two years. Wike made the remark on Friday during the official flag-off of the construction of the Northern Parkway, linking Ring Road II to Ring Road III in Abuja.

The minister’s statement came in response to a contractor’s 30-month project timeline, which he noted would likely exceed his stay in office. “Thirty months is about two years and I would have left, so let it be something that I would start and also participate in the inauguration of this particular project,” he said.

Wike emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as the driving force behind the ongoing transformation of the capital, stressing that road infrastructure plays a crucial role in urban development. He noted that the goal is to make Abuja comparable to world-class cities through modern roads and improved lighting systems.

“When you travel out, you see the road infrastructure, and of course, that is what brings out the development of the city. When everywhere is lit up, it becomes a beautiful city. Without proper roads, it will be difficult to truly describe Abuja as a world-class city,” he added.
