Sokoto Army Chief Urges Community Support In Battle Against Lakurawa Terrorists

militant group known locally as Lakurawa.

During his recent visit to the state, General Oluyede explained that his mission was to assess the readiness of troops and encourage their dedication to securing the area. “I am here to see my troops, assess their operational readiness, and inspire them to continue their crucial work in safeguarding our country,” he stated.

While touring Tangaza Local Government Area, a hotspot for Lakurawa activities, Oluyede met with local leaders, including Council Chairman Alhaji Isa Salihu Kalenjeni, calling for their partnership. “Your support is essential. Without it, we cannot succeed in securing Nigeria,” he emphasized, pledging that the Army would persist in its commitment to the nation’s safety.

Arriving early in the day, the Army Chief visited communities near the Niger border, including Masallaci and Illela, receiving updates from local commanders and reaffirming the importance of community backing to enhance security efforts.
