The woman, who invested both time and substantial funds preparing for her visa interview, shared her frustration after the rejection, saying, “I feel sad. I could have used my money to buy a car. I’m depressed.” She remains resolute, however, expressing her intent to apply again, stating, “I’ll go to that Yankee.”

In recounting her experience, she noted that of about 300 applicants at her interview session, only around five appeared likely to be approved, with over 80 others facing rejection.

Her story has resonated widely, with social media users sharing their own experiences and advocating for a refund or compensation system. One user, @81_flacos, commented, “Even if they won’t refund, at least some form of compensation would go a long way. You spend so much, only to get denied; it feels like a wasted investment.”

Another user, @Reggy1960, emphasized the impact of high denial rates on applicants, adding, “This is the story of many Nigerians every year; there should be a refund policy.”
