State NLC Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu Jungle, announced that the new minimum wage will take effect in January 2024, benefiting verified council workers and teachers across the state.

After a meeting with union executives, Jungle expressed the union’s support for the government’s decision, emphasizing that the wage aligns with the state’s developmental goals.

He also assured workers that the union will assist the government in conducting screenings to ensure only legitimate employees benefit from the increase.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto previously announced the wage increment during the presentation of the 2024 state budget, set to commence in January. Jungle urged workers to remain patient as the government continues its efforts to enhance welfare packages.
