South West Governor Declares Work-free Day For PVC Collection

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu declared Tuesday, January 24, 2023, a work-free day for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, in the state ahead of the upcoming general elections.

According to Akeredolu, the move will allow every eligible voter in the state to pick up their PVCs at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, designated locations in their respective local government areas.

The governor urged eligible voters in the civil service, the private sector, artisans, and other state residents and citizens to seize the opportunity and obtain their PVCs.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, Akeredolu urged eligible voters to prioritize collecting PVCs so they can exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.

“The importance of the forthcoming elections can not be overemphasised. There is an urgent need for us to address the low rate of PVCs collection in the Southwest.

“Beyond partisan lines, it is imperative that our people understand that the PVC is their license to enthrone desired political leadership.

“We are constrained to take this decision to enable our people take this advantage and collect their PVCs. It’s important that we all exercise our civic responsibilities,” the statement read.
