Sowunmi Slams Tinubu: ‘Your Media Team Is A Jamboree Of Confusion

media approach, calling it a major failure.
Tinubu has faced mounting criticism over the growing number of media aides in his administration, with the latest appointment of Daniel Bwala adding to the controversy.
In a statement titled “President Tinubu’s Cacophony of Media Aides,” Showunmi, a former Ogun State governorship aspirant, expressed his dissatisfaction with the President’s inability to organize an effective media team.
“If the President cannot manage a basic media team, how can he expect results?” Showunmi questioned.
He criticized Tinubu for confusing media management with public relations and for mixing up the roles of spokespersons with social media management. Showunmi also rejected the outdated concept of ‘attack dogs,’ emphasizing that credibility is more important than combative tactics in today’s media landscape.
He urged Tinubu to streamline his media team by assigning one person as the Special Adviser on Media and other roles as Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, and Personal Assistants. “Accountability must lie with one person, not many,” Showunmi stated.
Showunmi also warned that Tinubu’s disorganized media strategy could damage both his personal reputation and the standing of the Yoruba people. “This chaotic approach will bring embarrassment, and the capable Yoruba people will be unfairly judged,” he added.
Lastly, Showunmi criticized Tinubu’s recent cabinet reshuffle, claiming it reflected a focus on politics rather than effective governance. “A disorganized media team is not a team at all. It’s a jamboree that reflects confusion,” he concluded.
