The immigration tribunal ruled that Adegboyega should be deported to Nigeria, citing concerns over financial mismanagement and a lack of transparency in his church’s operations. Investigations, including one by The Telegraph, revealed serious allegations, including former members claiming the church encouraged impoverished youths to take out large loans, commit benefit fraud, and even sell their own blood to donate money.

Adegboyega, who overstayed his UK visitor’s visa since 2005, argued that deportation would harm his family life with his British wife and disrupt community projects he spearheaded in London. He claimed his work with SPAC Nation positively impacted hundreds of young people and had been recognized by politicians and police leaders. However, the tribunal found his claims exaggerated and concluded that his absence would not significantly affect the initiatives.

The tribunal upheld the Home Office’s position, noting that SPAC Nation faced serious allegations of misconduct, which included accusations of cult-like practices and misuse of funds.
