Five-Year Multiple Entry Visas: South Africa Eases Travel For Nigerians

Speaking during the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, attended by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, Ramaphosa highlighted measures to simplify visa processes, including five-year multiple-entry visas for eligible Nigerian business travelers.

According to a statement by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Ramaphosa emphasized South Africa’s commitment to fostering economic ties between the two nations.

“Our simplified visa process aims to create a favorable environment for Nigerian businesspeople traveling to South Africa. Qualifying applicants can now secure a five-year multiple-entry visa,” Ramaphosa said.

The South African leader also called for the removal of barriers to increased investment and pledged to address challenges faced by companies operating in both countries.

“As we commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations, our shared history of friendship lays a solid foundation for deeper economic cooperation. While Nigeria hosts several South African companies, there’s potential for much more. Addressing the remaining constraints is essential to unlocking further investment opportunities,” he added.

Ramaphosa praised Nigeria’s ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the business environment and assured that South Africa is similarly improving its ease of doing business to attract investors.

“Our government is committed to creating an enabling environment for investors to explore opportunities across various sectors,” he noted.

The announcement underscores both nations’ commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and encouraging economic collaboration.
