In a post on X, Fani-Kayode vehemently denied the claims, which suggested that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was colluding with France and terrorists to destabilize Niger. He pointed out that these accusations were not only unfounded but dangerous, warning Tchiani not to provoke Nigeria with such “childish” and “dangerous” assertions.

Fani-Kayode emphasized that no Nigerian leader—past or present—would engage in such actions, especially considering Nigeria’s own struggles with terrorism. He also highlighted the stark difference in military capabilities between the two countries, noting that the combined defense budgets of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso are a fraction of Nigeria’s own.

He called Tchiani’s remarks “absurd” and “mendacious,” accusing him of attempting to sow division within Nigeria and undermine President Tinubu’s leadership. Fani-Kayode also hinted that the Nigerian government might consider stronger measures if these provocations continue.

“These reckless allegations must stop, and Tchiani should remember that we are under no obligation to tolerate such slander,” he added.

This statement comes amidst heightened tensions between Nigeria and Niger following recent political developments in the region.
