The Value System: Enough Of Obi Cubana And The Hypocrisy Of The Nigerian Youth By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

The past weekend was remarkable and indeed fantabulous, the world literary celebrated with Obi Cubana when he observed the burial of his Mum. It was cash rain as the who is who in the young billionaires club were all in attendance.

The top celebrities, young captains of industries and savvy young billionaires all trooped to the sleepy town of Oba in Anambra State to do justice to one of the youngest richest dudes in the country today.

It was the burial of Obi Cubana’s mum and no expense was spared in celebrating the iron lady. From her 30 million naira casket to the spraying of thousands of dollars on strippers and the splashing of huge sums of money on young beautiful damsels.  It was all about the show of successes, money was played with like it was going out of fashion.

From the pre-burial stunts to the after party, it was all grand and splendour and had no correlation with a funeral ceremony, no wonder the celebrant bragged that after the death of his mother people would wish to die.

Before I go further let me commend the generosity of Obi Cubana who has proven to be a confirmed maker of men. He has made so many billionaires and millionaires that they all deemed it fit to celebrate with the business mogul, it is good to have a large heart, may God continue to bless Obi Cubana as he continues to lift households out of poverty and makes them men of substance, in other words, It is good to be good.

Congratulations sir, your party go well.

However, permit me to draw the hypocrisy as regards the show of opulence by our youths who are supposed to be the leaders of today and tomorrow. So many people would end up insulting me and say my post is centred on envy, please do not twist the story I am happy for the celebrations and even a positive beneficiary of the event but that won’t stop the truth from been told.

Our hypocrisy as supposed youths stinks, where are our moral values? I would do a comparison with these our youths and these old men we accuse of ruining the country.

In the course of celebrating the funeral of one’s mother these rich dudes were all over the social media space warning people to cage their girlfriends and even wives or else they would be snatched by the invading personalities arriving Oba.

What moral lessons are there to learn from these bully talks?

These VIP personalities abused the naira like it was tissue paper, we saw  videos of scenes where bundles of hard currencies and the soft naira were thrown at the poolside filled with half-claded young girls(some picked as much as 2 million naira.)

Abeg make una come tell me which moral value dey to showcase our poor YOUNG daughters’ wey suppose dey inside campus and between the ages of 18 and 25 years dem run leave school to go party? Dressed indecently so tay some dey rush to pick money thrown at them disrespectfully, please educate us on the moral values there?

You need to see the scary amount of girls wey dem bounce, our young future leaders. Haba make we sef dey reason am now, how pikin wey we feel say dem dey school go funeral dressed like harlots?

Having said that let us do a comparison, these old politicians which our youths keep shouting are wicked and heartless never spent money in such a manner when growing up. If we see videos of a Goodluck Jonathan at 45 years frolicking with young pretty girls and spraying dollars on strippers at a funeral ceremony what would we say of Jonathan? If a video surfaces showing Tinubu’s son spending such a huge amount of money on frivolities and showcasing it on the web what would we say of Tinubu’s son? Or do you think all these people gathered at Oba are as rich as Goodluck Jonathan or even Tinubu’s son?

When Mike Adenuga buried the mum each street that was in proximity to the venue of the event was given a cow daily, Mike Adenuga received over a billion from friends. He gave out countless scholarship and youth empowerment programs during the event. We never saw sugar daddies threatening young bobos and married men of losing their girlfriends or wives.

When Adenuga was the age of  Cubana Chief Priest he was far richer than him and of course, he made his money with hard work as well. When Atiku was the age of Obi of Cubana he was already wealthier than him, Atiku is married to four wives and we have never seen him celebrate in such a way that depicts the promotion of nudity, abusing the naira or promoting our young girls to celebrate laziness.

Go and look at Esama when he dey do birthday, he go build like 12 churches, grade roads even dash youths money and empower many others.

These old politicians instead would invest their money in the political system and reap from it while we supposed youths meant to take over are busy frolicking with frivolities and yet we say the country is burning.

Going forward, what has happened has happened I think this should be an eye-opener to the youths that indeed they have the capacity to take over from these old recycled leaders if they really want to.

We saw the comradeship at Oba, it won’t be a bad thing if our shining lights like Obi of Cubana, Davido, E-money etc can gather resources and initiate processes whereby the youths can be encouraged to participate in the electoral process.

This is not the time to mentor our youths to work hard and spend the money on popping champagne and partying with the prettiest girls.

If a youth festival is held on campuses with the theme of taking back Nigeria and sponsored by these people is it a crime? During such carnivals where these celebrities would perform the youths would be sensitized on the need for students to go get registered to vote.

What stops these people from packaging capable youths to challenge the status quo? Look at Senator Dino Melaye for example, daily showing us pictures of his garage with countless Lamborghinis and Ferraris, cars that are worth setting up at least six industries in Kogi and other States and in turn empower the youths? How many Ferraris can he find Dangote’s residence? Abi e get money reach Dangote?

We must learn to bring back our moral values, our leaders of today and tomorrow are from within us, there are no saints, if our youths can behave with such profanity then what do we expect of them when they become Governors, Senators and Presidents?

What moral lesson have we learnt from the burial of Obi Cubana? When the youths are ready to take over power we shall know.

A Congolese proverb says “Prepare now for the solutions of tomorrow.” This should serve as a catalyst for political growth.

Once again I congratulate Obi Cubana for hosting the funeral of the year, we move.
