‘They Didn’t Break The Door’ – Adamawa Govt Narrates How Warehouses Were Looted
According to Adamawa State Deputy Governor Prof Kaletapwa Farauta, the hoodlums who attacked warehouses in the state did not break the doors.
She made this statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, shortly after the incident in which several warehouses, including one belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), were attacked and looted of food and non-food items.
Prof Farauta clarified that two warehouses in Yola, the state capital, and one in Numan Local Government Area were targeted. The attackers used drills to create holes in the walls of the warehouses instead of breaking the doors.
While some have attributed the looting to hunger, the deputy governor dismissed these claims, stating that the government is aware of the hardship faced by the people but condemns the violent actions of the hoodlums.
She emphasized that repairing the damaged warehouses will require additional funds, and she encouraged the youth to redirect their energies into positive endeavors.
In response to the looting, Governor Umaru Fintiri swiftly imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state. The curfew was implemented due to the dangerous nature of the activities carried out by the hoodlums, including attacks on people, businesses, and homes. Only individuals on essential duties with valid identification will be allowed to move around during the curfew period.
