Three Die In Ondo Road Accident, Gunmen Kill Popular Businessman
Yesterday, tragedy struck when three people were killed in an accident near the Federal Government Girls College on the Akure-Owo highway in Akure, Ondo State.
A Toyota Sienna van with the registration number LND778YG and a Hummer bus with the registration number KTN 298 YJ were involved in the accident.
According to witnesses, the accident was caused by a head-on collision between both vehicles, and two passengers on the Toyota Sienna, including the driver, died.
According to him, the driver of the Toyota Sienna was attempting to overtake a trailer on the one-lane highway when he collided with the Hummer bus from Lagos State.

When contacted, the Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ezekiel SonAllah, stated that the accident involved 15 people, 12 male adults and three female adults.
He said: “12 people-nine male adult and three female adult were injured while three male adult died.”
SonAllah described the cause of the accident as wrongful overtaking and speed violation, adding that the injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Akure, now known as Ondo State University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), for treatment while the dead bodies were deposited at the same hospital mortuary.
All vehicle owners, particularly commercial drivers, are required to install a speed limit device. Passengers must report any driver who does not follow traffic rules and regulations while on the road.”
Meanwhile, suspected kidnappers are said to have killed a popular cream vendor, Augustine Okoye, in the state’s Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ugbe Akoko.
Okoye and his wife were reportedly kidnapped on the Isua-Ise Akoko road.
The kidnappers killed their victim after collecting an undisclosed amount of ransom from the man’s family, but released his wife.
The wife revealed that their kidnappers threatened her with death if she revealed the method of ransom negotiation and payment.
A police source in Ikare Akoko confirmed the incident, saying the victims’ Avalon car had been recovered from the scene of the incident.
According to the source, the police, Amotekun corps, and local vigilance groups are now combing the forest to recover the body and apprehend the perpetrators.
