Speaking in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, Eragbe criticized Atiku’s 2023 presidential bid, arguing that it was the South’s turn to produce Nigeria’s leader. He emphasized that the presidency should remain in the South until 2031, with a specific focus on the South-South region, which he claims has been underrepresented in leadership.

Eragbe urged political parties to prioritize competence over financial status when selecting candidates, stating that 2027 presents an opportunity to correct past mistakes.

He maintained that the 2023 election should have been contested solely by southern candidates, following Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year tenure as a northern president.
