Tinubu Aide Bwala Sparks Outrage, Says Peter Obi’s “Obidients” Are “Largely Not Human Beings

Bwala made the controversial remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he addressed questions regarding the presidency’s frequent responses to comments from Peter Obi and his supporters.

He argued that Obi’s support base is largely overstated online, insisting that only a small number of them are active on the streets. In his words, he suggested that many of the online accounts amplifying the movement are “bot accounts,” referencing what he described as manipulation of social media algorithms.

He stated that while the Obidient movement appears highly vocal on digital platforms, the actual number of physical supporters, in his view, is limited. He further claimed, “Peter Obi has a followership that they call the Obidients, that are largely… not human beings, we call bot accounts.”

Bwala also reflected on the 2023 presidential election, alleging that Peter Obi’s over 6.1 million votes were significantly influenced by religious sentiment at the time. He argued that the political atmosphere was shaped by heightened religious rhetoric, especially in contrast to the Muslim-Muslim ticket presented by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he said made emotional mobilisation easier.

He further stated that some religious leaders who previously supported Obi during the election cycle have since withdrawn their backing, suggesting a decline in the momentum of that support base.

The presidential aide also questioned Peter Obi’s leadership style, particularly his ability to manage people, claiming that several individuals who once worked closely with him during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State have since parted ways with him.

He referenced past political alliances and associates, suggesting that Obi’s former collaborators, including those active in the 2019 political cycle, are no longer aligned with him, and implied a pattern of strained professional relationships over time.
