Tinubu Sends Shockwaves of Hope: 27,000 Akwa Ibom Residents Get ₦75,000 Lifeline

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for extending the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer initiative to Akwa Ibom State, reaching over 27,000 vulnerable individuals with financial aid. According to iReporter Online, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom expressed deep appreciation for the federal government’s intervention, describing the N75,000 disbursed to each beneficiary as a crucial and timely gesture in the fight against poverty.

Speaking during the official flag-off ceremony in Uyo, Governor Eno, represented by Mrs. Helen Obareki from the Office of the First Lady, noted that the initiative perfectly aligns with his administration’s focus on inclusive governance and social welfare. According to iReporter Online, the governor emphasized his commitment to collaborate with the Federal Government, particularly through the ARISE Agenda, to sustain efforts aimed at uplifting the most disadvantaged in society.

Eno’s administration has reportedly made significant strides since assuming office in May 2023. These include the delivery of 205 housing units, monthly stipends to 600 elderly persons, and healthcare insurance coverage for over 1,200 senior citizens and persons with disabilities. In addition, the state has awarded educational grants to 243 students with disabilities and supported youth and MSMEs through cash and equipment interventions.

According to iReporter Online, the governor reiterated that such policies go beyond mere handouts. “We are committed to restoring dignity, building economic independence, and creating a state where no citizen is left behind,” he said. The statement also acknowledged the President’s commitment to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians, noting that the federal cash transfer scheme complements Akwa Ibom’s homegrown humanitarian model.
