Tinubu To Address Nation Soon As Presidency Responds To Rising Insecurity
The Presidency has addressed growing concerns over the recent surge in killings and kidnappings across Kebbi, Kwara, and other parts of Nigeria, assuring that the government is actively responding to the security challenges.
Speaking on Monday during an interview on Arise TV, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, affirmed that the administration is fully aware of the country’s deteriorating security situation. He emphasized that the government is taking Nigerians’ worries seriously.
“This government has never denied that Nigerians are being killed. We know we have problems, but we are making efforts to ensure that we stem all these things,” Onanuga said.
He further revealed that President Tinubu is expected to address the nation directly once the ongoing high-level security consultations are concluded. “I think he will do so very soon,” Onanuga stated, reassuring citizens that the presidency is committed to restoring public confidence and enhancing security measures in affected areas.
The statement from the Presidency comes amid heightened national anxiety following the abduction of schoolchildren in Kebbi and Niger states, as well as the deadly attack on worshippers at a church in Kwara State.
In a related development, thirty-eight members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke-Isegun Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, who were abducted last week, were released on Sunday after five days in captivity. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed their release through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye.
