Tinubu To New Ambassadors: ‘We Must Deliver’ As He Issues Strong Marching Orders
According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Tinubu has charged Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassadors to focus on delivering measurable results, strengthening global partnerships, and repositioning the country on the international stage.
The directive was conveyed on his behalf by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, who addressed the envoys on Monday. Tinubu emphasized that the ambassadors must be proactive and strategic in reshaping Nigeria’s global narrative, attracting foreign investment, boosting trade relations, and safeguarding the interests of Nigerians abroad.
In a post shared via his official handle, Akume stated that the President made it clear that the ambassadors’ mandate is centred on performance and impact, stressing the need for deeper international cooperation as global dynamics continue to evolve. He also disclosed that Tinubu reordered Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities, shifting from Democracy, Development, Demography, Diaspora to Demography, Development, Diaspora, Democracy, with a renewed focus on placing Nigerians at the centre of diplomatic engagement and outcomes.
Akume further noted that the President urged the envoys to embody professionalism and patriotism in their duties, warning that global attention is firmly on Nigeria’s diplomatic direction and results are expected.
In a related development, a former presidential aspirant, Stanley Osifo, has declared his intention to contest for the 2027 presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), setting the stage for internal party competition ahead of the primaries.
Osifo made his declaration on Monday during a press briefing in Abuja, where he confirmed plans to obtain the party’s ₦100 million nomination and expression of interest forms. His move comes despite widespread endorsements of President Bola Tinubu by all 22 APC governors, who have reportedly backed the President as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 election.
However, Osifo maintained that endorsements do not automatically determine the outcome of party primaries. He also dismissed speculation suggesting he had the backing of the President for his ambition.
