Abdulhamid Yahaya-Abba, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement, North-East, has refuted claims of using taxpayers’ money to finance his extensive convoy of vehicles.

Responding to an allegation made by a user named ‘Anambra 1st Son’, Yahaya-Abba clarified that the convoy was comprised of friends, associates, and support groups who had gathered to congratulate him on his appointment.

He emphasized that the convoy in question was not funded by taxpayers’ money. It included both private security personnel and a few state-owned security elements. He asserted that the false report was an attempt to sow discord and confusion among the public and dedicated government officials regarding the use of public funds for personal gain.

Yahaya-Abba highlighted that he hails from a region grappling with security challenges posed by Boko Haram. He reiterated that the convoy was financed by friends and well-wishers who have supported him long before his appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the President. He also pointed out that he has been involved in community mobilization with convoys of cars prior to his current position.

Given the security challenges in his community, it is considered imperative for someone frequently in the midst of crowds to have two to three policemen safeguarding him during state visits.
