Tinubu Has Reintroduced Fuel Subsidy? – APC Speaks
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has addressed concerns over the administration of President Bola Tinubu possibly reintroducing fuel subsidy through indirect means.
The APC clarified that the government’s intervention aimed to ensure a level of price stability and predictability, asserting that this does not constitute a reinstatement of recent fuel subsidies.
In response to Phrank Shaibu, the Media Aide to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the APC accused him of spreading misinformation and engaging in other discrediting tactics against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The APC spokesperson, Felix Morka, criticized Shaibu for making misleading statements and suggested that he lacked a comprehensive understanding of the issues, possibly due to post-electoral stress disorder. Morka emphasized that Shaibu’s claims were unfounded and that the restructuring of the security framework and revitalization of the Armed Forces were key actions taken by President Tinubu.
Morka also highlighted that Shaibu’s dismissal of the administration’s decisions to remove fuel subsidies, streamline foreign exchange policies, and enact the Students’ Loan Act revealed a lack of understanding in economic development and governance. He further explained that while the finer points of these policies are still in progress, their objectives and potential positive impact are valid.
Regarding the potential meeting with President Joe Biden, Morka clarified that it was deemed unnecessary since President Tinubu had already met with him at the G-20 Nations summit in India, and thus, it was not scheduled during the United Nations General Assembly.
In conclusion, the APC underscored its commitment to economic revitalization and growth, as demonstrated by President Tinubu’s appointments of skilled professionals in key economic institutions and initiatives aimed at removing distortions and fostering prosperity for Nigeria. They also noted that ongoing diplomatic efforts with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were underway, with details to be revealed in due course.
