Tinubu’s Historic Move: SEDC Law Aims to Fulfill Gowon’s Post-Civil War Promise
Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Anthony Ibezi, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from Anambra State, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s groundbreaking decision to sign the South East Development Commission (SEDC) law. This action is seen as a crucial step towards fulfilling General Yakubu Gowon’s long-standing promise of reconciliation, reconstruction, and rehabilitation made after the Nigerian Civil War.
In his remarks, Ibezi highlighted the significance of this move, noting, “More than fifty years after the Nigerian Civil War, General Yakubu Gowon’s promise of ‘reconciliation, reconstruction, and rehabilitation’ remains unfulfilled. With the introduction of the SEDC, President Tinubu is poised to bring this promise to fruition. I commend him for his bravery and leadership in signing this pivotal legislation.”
According to Vanguard Newspaper, Ibezi’s praise for President Tinubu’s leadership underscores the importance of the SEDC law in advancing the development of the South East region. He emphasized that this legislation holds the potential to transform the region by addressing its long-standing challenges and fostering economic growth.
The SEDC law is anticipated to play a critical role in bridging the development gap in the South East and promoting sustained prosperity. Ibezi’s endorsement reflects a broader sentiment that this legislative action is a significant step towards addressing historical grievances and driving regional advancement.
With this landmark decision, President Tinubu is not only addressing current developmental needs but also honoring a promise made decades ago, signaling a new era of progress and unity for the South East region.
