According to Ireporter Online, the Government of Bayelsa State has declared Friday, April 10, 2026, a work-free day and ordered the closure of all markets across the state ahead of the official visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The announcement was made in Yenagoa by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, who explained that the directive is part of preparations to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated presidential visit as well as to enable residents fully participate in the scheduled events.

During the one-day visit, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to commission several major state projects, including a gas turbine project located at Opolo-Elebele, a 60-kilometre dual carriageway linking Onopa to the LNG area, and a 630-metre bridge connecting Angiama to Oporoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

The state government urged residents, particularly traders, to comply with the directive by closing their shops and coming out to receive the President, noting that the measures are aimed at ensuring an orderly and successful visit across the state.
