According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Wednesday following a visit to the United Kingdom and the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Lagos. The President’s aircraft departed from the Presidential Wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport at approximately 6:44 p.m. During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu engaged with key political and diplomatic stakeholders. His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the developments.
In Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris expressed sorrow over the killing of soldiers in a fresh terrorist attack in the Girinmasa area of Yauri Local Government. Security analyst Bakatsine reported that suspected Lakurawa militants ambushed troops, resulting in casualties. Governor Idris assured that the state government would cover medical expenses for the injured and support the families of the deceased, emphasizing continued efforts to protect lives and property.
The Federal High Court in Abuja raised new issues concerning former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s ₦1 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and four other respondents. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik expressed concern that the second respondent, a magistrate, had yet to be served. The court adjourned the matter until 31 March for the hearing of pending motions and directed that the magistrate be duly served.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under Tanimu Turaki, confirmed ongoing reconciliation efforts to unite aggrieved factions within the party. Turaki stated that combative and derogatory communications had been de-escalated and urged all factions to maintain a cooperative approach to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
