Top Northern Monarch Passes Away In Egypt After Long Illness

According to Ireporter Online, the Emir of Gazargamu in Yobe State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Ibn Saleh, has passed away following a prolonged illness.

The revered traditional ruler died on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, where he had been undergoing medical treatment before his demise.

The confirmation was made in Damaturu by his son, Engr. Tijjani Hamisu Bala, who serves as the General Manager of the Yobe State Road Maintenance Agency.

In a statement announcing the passing of the monarch, Bala described his father as a respected leader, mentor, and father figure whose life was devoted to the service of his people and humanity at large.

“With profound sorrow and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved father, namesake and traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Ibn Saleh, the Emir of Gazargamu, who returned to his Creator today, June 9, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, after a protracted illness,” the statement read.

He further noted that the late emir lived a life defined by wisdom, humility, courage, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of his subjects, adding that his leadership and legacy would remain a lasting inspiration.

The deceased monarch’s son also prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus, while asking for strength and patience for the family, the Gazargamu Emirate, and the people of Yobe State to bear the loss.

At the time of filing this report, burial arrangements had yet to be officially announced.
