Despite the absence of recognition for Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide at the 66th Grammys ceremony, where Tyla emerged victorious as the sole non-Nigerian nominee in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category, Daddy Freeze affirmed her deserving win.

Amidst criticism from some Nigerian music enthusiasts who questioned the Recording Academy’s selection process, alleging favoritism, Daddy Freeze maintained his stance on Tyla’s triumph during a recent Instagram live interaction with followers.

He asserted, “Tyla’s Grammy triumph over Nigerian artists was fair and square. I see no foul play here. I’ve scrutinized it closely, and I fail to detect any wrongdoing.

“From a global perspective, ‘Water’ held a slight edge over Nigerian contenders. It doesn’t discredit the significance of Nigerian songs; they were undeniably impactful. However, ‘Water’ resonated more profoundly. It’s a sensation on platforms like TikTok.”
