Umahi Warns Peter Obi: “Attack Tinubu, I’ll Attack Back

According to Ireporter Online, Umahi made the remarks on Friday during an inspection tour of some legacy projects of the Tinubu administration in Ebonyi State, where he warned that he would respond if Obi continues to criticise the President.

The minister stated, “If Peter Obi attacks Tinubu, I will attack him,” adding that Obi’s comments appeared to be driven by frustration over the growing recognition of the Federal Government’s developmental projects in the South-East region.

Umahi argued that the infrastructure initiatives of the Tinubu administration across the zone had challenged Obi’s previous political influence in the region, insisting that Nigerians in the South-East were beginning to appreciate the government’s efforts.

The minister dismissed claims that anyone wished Obi harm, saying Nigerians wanted him alive to participate in future elections and face the outcome of the democratic process.

He further accused Obi of relying on what he described as “artificial intelligence politics,” while claiming that President Tinubu’s projects and policies had demonstrated commitment to the development and inclusion of the South-East in national affairs.

Umahi also expressed readiness to engage Obi in a public debate over the achievements of the current administration, particularly on infrastructure development and the region’s political inclusion.

The Works Minister maintained that his comments were not personal attacks on Obi but a response to what he considered unfair criticism of President Tinubu. He urged the former governor to acknowledge the ongoing projects across the country and support initiatives aimed at national development.

Umahi added that President Tinubu’s administration would continue until 2031 to complete ongoing projects across the six geopolitical zones, urging residents of the South-East to support the President’s re-election bid.
