Notable figures among the defectors include Chief Chris Okewulonu, a close ally and former Chief of Staff to Ihedioha during his brief tenure, as well as Hon. Chuma Nnaji, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and a past PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, and Hon. Jonas Okeke, the PDP candidate for Okigwe South.

Welcoming the new members at the APC state secretariat over the weekend, Uzodinma acknowledged the significance of their decision, noting that he was not surprised by the shift, as “genuine members of the political class in Imo State want to see progress, regardless of their political affiliations.”

He further stated, “We must commend you for the wisdom and courage it took to make this decision, and I welcome all of you to our party. Real stakeholders in the political landscape of Imo State have once again united. This is Hope Renewed, with new programs and new agendas.”

During the event, the governor took the opportunity to inform both old and new party members about his promising initiatives and projects aimed at attracting people to Imo and fostering future development. He expressed confidence that the recent entrants would contribute positively to the state, given their extensive experience in both public and private sectors.

Uzodinma also articulated his vision for improving Imo State’s road network to ensure efficient connectivity across all three senatorial zones, allowing residents to access different areas swiftly.

He lamented the existence of self-proclaimed leaders in Imo who covertly support and fund insecurity within the state, leading to the loss of innocent lives, all under the guise of politics.
