War Of Words: Presidency Shreds Kwankwaso’s Claims, Showcases Tinubu’s Northern Projects

The Presidency has strongly rebutted recent allegations made by former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, over claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sidelined Northern Nigeria in the distribution of federal projects.

Kwankwaso, speaking at a Kano Stakeholders’ Dialogue on the 2025 Constitutional Amendment, alleged that the Tinubu-led administration was focusing national development resources disproportionately in the South.

He advised the Federal Government to ensure equitable distribution of resources, citing concerns that the current budget direction was skewed.

However, the Presidency, through media aide Sunday Dare, issued a firm response dismissing Kwankwaso’s assertions as misleading and unfounded.

According to iReporter Online, the Presidency outlined an extensive list of federal interventions and infrastructure projects currently underway across the North, stating that the region has not been left behind.

The projects listed include strategic roads such as the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Dual Carriageway, the Sokoto–Badagry Expressway, and the Biu–Kangiwa–Gaya–Niger Republic Road, among many others.

In the energy sector, notable developments include the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, the ABIBA Solar Power Station in Kaduna, and the Gwagwalada Power Plant in Abuja.

In healthcare, major federal investments are being channeled into institutions like Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, and the Federal Medical Centre in Nguru, Yobe.

The administration is also rehabilitating over 1,000 primary health care centers across the northern region.

According to iReporter Online, Tinubu’s government has committed significant resources to agriculture through the $158.15 million Agriculture Value Chain Programme targeting nine northern states, as well as climate resilience efforts via the ACReSAL project.

Additionally, the Presidency cited the ongoing construction of the Kaduna–Kano and Kano–Maradi railf lines, along with the Abuja Metro Line rehabilitation, as further evidence of President Tinubu’s development footprint in the North.

“The facts speak for themselves,” the Presidency maintained, urging critics to adopt a more informed stance.

According to iReporter Online, Sunday Dare emphasized that President Tinubu is committed to balanced national development and is already implementing projects designed to uplift every region, including Northern Nigeria.
