We’ll Release Tinubu’s Academic Record If …… – Chicago University Speaks

Chicago State University (CSU) has established a condition for releasing President Bola Tinubu’s academic records, following an application by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to a US court in Chicago. Atiku’s request aimed to compel CSU to disclose Tinubu’s academic history.

In the documents requested, Atiku sought records of Tinubu’s admission, attendance dates, degrees, honors, and more. The move was to verify the authenticity of Tinubu’s claims, as he faces legal challenges regarding his presidency and educational background.

CSU, in response, expressed confusion over the relevance of Tinubu’s academic records to a foreign election challenge. Nevertheless, they stated that once a US court order is granted, they will make the records public.

The university acknowledged that Tinubu graduated in 1979 but deferred to Tinubu on privacy and relevance issues concerning the requested documents.

Additionally, CSU reserved objections to the scope of Atiku’s discovery, noting certain requests were inappropriate. They also highlighted the need for the court to scrutinize the status of the Nigerian proceeding and the likelihood of the information being considered.

Tinubu had previously filed a motion to quash the subpoena before the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, Chicago, USA.
