The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will wrestle control of Abia State from the Labour Party (LP) in the 2027 elections.

According to Ireporter Online, Kalu made the declaration while addressing a gathering of APC members and supporters at the Abia Hotels in Umuahia. He emphasized that Abia must be fully integrated into the mainstream of Nigerian politics to enjoy the benefits of being aligned with the federal government.

Kalu highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the South-East, particularly his resolve to establish a seaport in the region to strengthen trade and economic growth. He argued that such initiatives demonstrated Tinubu’s goodwill toward the Igbo people, insisting that the region owes him support in return.

He further stressed that the enthusiasm among APC supporters was not driven by financial inducements but by genuine love for the President and belief in the party’s vision.

“We are going to take over Abia in 2027,” Kalu declared. “When people see us gather, they think it’s about money, but this is an organic crowd motivated by the desire to move our state and the country forward.”
