What Boko Haram Did To 48 Abducted Women In Borno

The extremist organization, Boko Haram, has released 48 women who were abducted from Maiwa and Shuwarin Villages in the Mafa Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State. Zagazola Makama, a security analyst specializing in counter-insurgency and operating in the Lake Chad region, reported this development on Thursday.

Makama confirmed through a Twitter post that the women had been taken while working in their fields on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

He revealed that after the abduction, the women were transported to an undisclosed location, where Boko Haram demanded ransom payments from their families.

According to Makama’s account, the women regained their freedom on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, following the payment of N50,000 each to the terrorists as ransom.

Additionally, he noted that eight of the abducted women had been released earlier, having paid N20,000 each for their release.
