What Oyetola’s Appointees Left With – Adeleke Speaks

Oyetola and Adeleke

The Osun State Government announced yesterday that two-thirds of appointed officials during Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration carted away vehicles associated with their offices.

This was contained in a statement signed by Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, according to Rasheed, has directed the officials to return the property to them within 48 hours.

The statement, which revealed that the former officials removed computers and pillaged their official residences down to lamp fittings, went on to say: “The directive was the result of large-scale diversion of government assets by top officials of the immediate previous administration.” Several official vehicles have gone missing, despite the fact that official records show that two-thirds of the former officials left with a fleet of cars in their offices.

“Most Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) were stripped of operational assets like vehicles, computers and even residential fittings. The residences of some top officials were equally pillaged even to lamp fittings.

“Any former official, who refuses to comply with the directive, will face the full weight of the law.”
REACTING, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state asked the state government to be specific about its allegation of assets stripping.

Sunday Akere, the Osun APC Director of Operations, stated in a statement yesterday that the current government appeared uncoordinated, saying: “You set up a panel on this same assets matter yesterday.” Is it true that another committee has been formed in the governor’s office? They must be specific, and we will respond accordingly.”
