Why FG Can’t Refund States For Federal Roads Projects Now – Umahi

The Federal government is currently unable to reimburse state governments for funds spent on federal roads, according to the Minister of Works, David Umahi. He made this statement during a two-day working visit to Oyo State, where he met with Governor Seyi Makinde.

The minister commended Governor Makinde for his administration’s efforts in road projects, noting that it was alleviating the suffering of the people. He emphasized that whether it’s state or federal roads, the primary goal of government is to prioritize the welfare of the people.

Umahi encouraged Governor Makinde to consider using Concrete Pavement Technology in road construction projects, highlighting its durability and cost-effectiveness compared to asphalt roads. He cited successful road projects with concrete pavement in Lagos and his own experience in Ebonyi State.

During his visit to Oyo State, the minister was inspecting federal government road projects in the South West region as part of his responsibilities. He had previously met with contractors handling road projects in the North West, North Central, and South West regions in Abuja.
