Wike’s Aide: Makinde ‘Desperate For ADC VP Ticket

Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, claimed that Makinde was “desperately looking” for a vice-presidential ticket, adding that the governor’s recent political conduct was influenced by what he described as a loss of influence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He further described Makinde as “partyless,” alleging that the governor was attempting to reignite political tensions reminiscent of the South-West’s “Operation Wet e” era. In a post shared on , Olayinka expressed concern over what he termed the gravity of the governor’s alleged statements, warning against any form of incitement to violence.

The presidential aide also accused Makinde of failing in several political engagements within and outside the PDP, including efforts to gain control of the party structure. He alleged that the governor had been unable to secure dominance within the PDP to advance what he described as a “juvenile vice-presidential ambition.”

Olayinka further claimed that Makinde had failed in other political matters, including issues relating to the Olubadan stool and internal party contests in Oyo State.

He also raised allegations concerning funds reportedly received by the Oyo State Government to compensate victims of the 2024 Bodija explosion, accusing the governor of not providing accountability for the ₦30 billion allegedly received from the Federal Government.

According to him, Makinde is now seeking relevance outside the PDP and is allegedly resorting to political threats. He stated that the governor’s current stance was linked to frustration over his position within the party and an alleged pursuit of the ADC vice-presidential ticket.

Olayinka concluded by questioning whether political leaders would be willing to involve their own families in any potential unrest arising from such tensions.
