WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY: Edo Governor-elect Salutes Teachers, Reiterates Commitment Towards The Recruitment Of More Teachers
The Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated teachers in the state on the annual commemoration of the World Teachers’ Day.
Senator Okpebholo while eulogizing teachers for their hard work on raising leaders, he stated that his prospective administration will revers the shortage of teachers through continous recruitment of qualified teachers into the State Teaching Service.
The Governor-elect reiterated his commitment today while speaking at a
reception held in his honour in his community, Udomi Community, in Uwessan-Irrua, Esan Central LGA.
Senator Okpebholo also stated that his administration will prioritize the welfare of teachers, and all workers in the State. He further stated that he understands that education is the bedrock upon which state’s progress and prosperity are built, and therefore reiterated his resolve to invest in education massively.
“On this special day, I wish to salutes our teachers for their hard work and dedication towards an enlightened society.
“I want to sieze this special occasion to reassure our teachers that my administration will prioritize teachers welfare for an enhanced teaching output. We’ll build standard schools and equip them with relevant and modern educational materials. We’ll ensure that government schools becomes citadel of quality learning. Our teachers will be retrained through regular special retraining programs.
“Inline with the theme of this year’s celebration, Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education; my administration will place teachers in a top priority, and we’ll reverse the shortage of teachers through continous recruitment of qualified teachers into the State Teaching Service.”
The Governor-elect further extended his appreciation to teachers for their commitment in the task of nation-building, and wish them well as they mark this year’s world teachers’ day.
