Governor Lawal urged workers to support the administration’s efforts in reforming the civil service and to abstain from any corrupt practices. He expressed concern over the issue of multiple salary collectors within the state workforce and emphasized the importance of verifying the actual number of genuine workers before determining the minimum wage.
While acknowledging the current challenges faced by workers in Zamfara State, the governor assured that once the process of identifying ghost workers and multiple salary earners is completed, the government will announce a new minimum wage. He reiterated that the government’s policies aim to improve the public service and the overall economy without targeting any individual unfairly.
Governor Lawal also highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing pension and gratuity issues, noting that significant payments have already been made towards settling outstanding pension and gratuity arrears for both state and local government employees. He reassured workers that this effort would continue until all backlog payments are fully settled.
