Defection: See What Wike Just Did To PDP

Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has expressed confidence in the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) chances in Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections.

Wike made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahoada East Local Government Area (LGA), led by Eric Apia, a former House of Representatives candidate in the area.

At a reception in the Ehuda clan, from which the defectors’ leader hails, the governor promised to build a 10-kilometer stretch of internal roads in the area and to award the contract for the reconstruction of Government Girls Secondary School, Ahoada.

Apia, a former APC House of Representatives candidate, stated in his remarks that he was joining the PDP to bring development to his community.

The defection comes just hours after the Labour Party’s now-disbanded state executive adopted the PDP’s governorship candidate in the state, Siminialayi Fubara, for the March 11 elections.
