Why We Are Excited – Edo North Residents Continue To Celebrate Oshiomhole’s Victory
One month after the historic victory, residents of Auchi, Afashio, Elele/Iviamho, Ayua, South Ibie, Jattu, and the surrounding areas of the home town of the winner of the Edo North Senatorial district election, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, are still celebrating.
According to residents of the communities, Oshiomhole’s victory would usher in a new era of proactive legislative responsibilities, which in turn would increase the senatorial district’s national significance.
They assert that Oshiobaba, as he is affectionately known, would go to the Red Chambers to fight for what is rightfully theirs as a district, that they trust his presentations on the NASS floor, and that his participation at the 10th NASS would be beneficial to them greatly.
“Why we no go happy? E dey sweet us for belle as Oshobaba win that seat , now we go know say governance dey exist , e no b like before wey we no even sabi if person dey Abuja or not, abeg make dem quick swear am in na we dey” 65-year-old market woman at Jattu simply known as Aisha was quoted as saying.
“Oshiomhole is not going to the Senate to sleep when matters of national importance are supposed to be discussed; Oshiomhole would not only advocate for us as a region, but the Oshiomhole I know would stand up for the common Nigerian regardless of where he or she comes from; we are excited and can’t wait for the people’s chairman to be inaugurated.”- Oshiomah , Uzaruie community.
A similar story played out in Afashio, where the populace is eagerly awaiting the beginning of Oshiomhole’s legislative responsibilities in Abuja.
Normally, you wouldn’t blame the people for their enthusiasm; the truth is that Adams Oshiomhole has had such a significant impact on their lives that they see his election as a senator as a continuation of his generosity because the Senate is another platform that would greatly benefit them.
